Happy belated Halloween

I am sorry that Halloween has not been reported yet. I have been a lot busy since Wednesday. So I will try to bring the update now!

Let's start with a fact of life that is becoming clear: 2 kids are sicker than 1. We are STILL sick. In fact my poor mom is pretty sure death might have been preferred to the feelings she was having. I had to go to a conference 3 hours away Thrusday and Friday. The plan had been for Grandma to take the sweet peas to her house on Tuesday after a doctor's appointment for Emily. Unfortunately there was a lot of digestive upset after we ate lunch. She was in no condition to drive home.

Wednesday started off with some excitement. I called my dad to have him come take care of mom and my kids. Talk about a mess! When I reached daycare, I realized I still needed my morning antibiotic dose. I called work to see if it was ok for me to run home and get it. I noted a slight delay with my battery as I tried to start my car. Hmm, not the best. I stopped by the grocery store to pick up some Pepto for my mommy and some candy for the trick-or-treaters. Loaded the car, again some hesitation of the car to start. So when I got home, I left the car running to recharge the battery. No biggie. I got the bags in, checked on dear ol' mom, took my horsepill. The bag with the Pepto did not make it in. Looked in the car. Looked through the bags again. No Pepto. Stopped by the store again, they were getting ready to restock my purchases. (Nice....) Car took a little longer to start, but it did and I got to work. Tried to start it at work, no go. It's ok, I'll get it jumped after work. The day proceeded something like a full-moon Monday: weird crazy stuff happened. But overall not too bad. My coworker said she would jump my car for me so we hiked out to the new parking lot to her Jeep. Drove to the garage with my car. No way to reach my battery with cables from her battery. Neat! Called security, they brought out the jumper, and VVVRRROOOOOOOOOOM I'm in business. Picked up the girls, made it home to see Grandpa! Yee Haa! Grandpa left his truck lights and his battery was dead. I jumped his truck with my car. Talk about irony.

Last year Allison helped me hand out the candy. This year, I thought we would actually go to a few houses on our street. Boy was I wrong! We made it to 2 houses and she was FREAKED out at a mask a kid was wearing. Oh my goodness was she scared! So we went back to help Grandpa hand out candy. Mostly she hung out close to Grandma and Emily on the couch. But when little people(aka kids her size) showed up, here she came! "Hi guys!" would be heard and she would zoom over to help fill the sacks and buckets. She really liked the dum-dum suckers, and was sweet enough to give them to the kids. It was great to see. Unfortunately, most of the kids were teens and tweens. She also got to learn the lesson about finishing one sucker before opening another. Even if you don't like the favor of the blue ones. ;)

After the excitement had died down and Allison and Emily were asleep, I headed to Springfield for my conference. A later start than I had hoped for, so I drove by Starbucks. They were closed. Leaving home 10pm, 3 hour drive, no Starbucks. grrrr. I checked in around 1:30 am, slept through my alarms, but made it to the 1st speaker on time thanks to Grandma calling to make sure I was awake. Thank God for Grandma! The conference was good. I did learn a few things about my job. But the best part was seeing my friend Julie! We had dinner and talked for hours. She is a designer for Bass Pro Shops and just got a promotion! I am so darn proud of her I could just burst. She has had an ok year, but please pray for her, her friends and her family. She shared a whole boat load of prayer requests with me. It was a lot to take in and much praying to be done. We decided 2007 has not been the best year in recent memory and have high hopes for 2008. (Even if it is an election year....)

Before you go to the next sucker, you have to finish the first one even if you don't like the flavor????? WHAT?

Sounds like you need a gallon or so of chicken soup. I hope all of you are feeling better...including the car!

No starbucks? Sick cars and kids? It must have been a full moon.

Poor little one. Halloween can be so scary!

My you have been busy!! Great pics! I agree with Kelly. On Halloween there should be no rules about candy eating. (Notice I don't have any of my own children.)

Poor Allison! Aisha freaked out when we went next door to trick or treat because Dale (remember him?) had a Scream mask on. I've never seen her so scared, so I'm sure I know all about how Allison reacted! They're 2 of a kind! Of course, it took Aisha as far as the next front door and handful of candy to get over it ;0)

Kisses!

Wow! What a day!

What is up with Starbucks being closed so early these days? I've been to one at 10p before and it was closed too. You are right.... grrrrr.....

Aren't Moms the best? Yours sounds a lot like mine. Calling to make sure I'm awake... that is totally something my Mom would do.

Thank goodness for Grandma!

xo,

Karen Beth :)
