Answers for Karen Beth
Karen Beth sent this out as an email, but I thought it was a post waiting to happen! So tag to all you bloggers and friends! I hope to hear from you....
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? both, depends on the recipient and gift
2. Real tree or Artificial? Hands down without a doubt, REAL
3. When do you put up the tree? usually early December
4. When do you take the tree down? the week after New Year's
5. Do you like eggnog? Yuck. No thank you.....
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Wally the stuffed Koala, and a Miss Piggy hand puppet to coordinate with my sister's Kermit the Frog!
7. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, it was Shane's grandmother's so it's a way to keep her memory near during Christmas
8. Hardest person to buy for? My brother in law Brett. He speaks geek. I don't speak geek.
9. Easiest person to buy for? Dad! An Eddie Bauer Buttondown or Mom! her annual housecoat!
10. Mail or E-Mail Christmas Cards? Mail! Especially when I can get them done!
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? I really try not to look a gift horse in the mouth.....
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? I don't have a favorite. I like the Animated/Cartoon ones on TV. Charlie Brown, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, the Grinch and on and on I could go
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? whenever I see something that makes me think of Christmas present....
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I'm not telling!
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Aunt Dorothy's peanut butter balls or Mom's Chicken Dumplings...
16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? Clear, all clear and no flashing
17. Favorite Christmas song? "I'll Be Home for Christmas"
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Depends on the year
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers? Yes, the 7 Dwarves too... ;)

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? CRABBY people who can't see anything good and spirit of Christmas.

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? my husband safe at home. That is what I want, but won't recieve. So I think I will settle for a smile from my girls. Nothing could be better than my girls smiling.

Musings from Crazyland
Isn't it odd how your life can change your mind and opinions? I have been stiving as an adult, if not most of my life period, to be a professional. To me this means being the best I can be at whatever my focus is at the time. Many times I would rather do things myself so they are done "right". Not leave (or turn over) a job for someone else. The first time Shane was deployed for a year, I worked 4 or 5 12 hour shifts a week. I was honing my skills and filling time as I best knew how. I think I can easily say I helped to save lives, and made things easier on my co-workers. Let's not forget racked up a ton of miles in the back of an ambulance or helicopter!
So it has taken me by surprise to find I'd like nothing better than to become a Stay at Home mom. I don't feel like that is much of an option right now. But it has hurt my feelings like nothing else I know to have my little girl call me "Macy-mommy". Allison doesn't say Nancy just yet; she says Macy. She is so used to spending time at daycare, she gets confused. Wow. It's like I'm being stabbed in the chest. Or the pride, I'm not sure which. I know I have a little more pride than I should, so maybe this is God's way of deflating the ego. I don't know. But to be completely honest, this sucks.
Anyone with good games to play with 2.5 year olds and 8 month olds? I am having some problems thinking of enough things to do with Allison on the weekends. I try to get things cleaned up and straightened up, but she is soooo demanding of my time. I have tried keeping her occupied to her toys, but she gets bored. I hate the idea of sitting her in front of the TV. I feel guilty about the time she watches Disney morning as is! As I read this, I feel like I am struggling in general with the single mom gig. Again, this sucks!
Ok, I must say adeiu. I'm tired.

6 Random Things
My friend Melissa tagged me with this idea a while back. I am finally getting to sit down to share. Here are some great random snapshots of my life. I will admit to following Melissa's lead with some of them. Thanks M!
1. My fridge: I adore the french door and freezer on the bottom features. It has been the most wonderful part of being an adult with buying power for the kitchen. Other than my salad spinner that is.
2. Our flag: The flag went up for Vetern's Day and I decided not to take it down. I thought it would be a great way to honor Shane. Until the wind blew it down! Since I took this picture, the holder broke because the wind was blowing so hard! Now I have to go forth and find a replacement, which might be difficult around Chistmas time.
3. Missing: One left shoe. Children's Size 7.5 Looks a lot like the above photo in reverse. Not found hiding: under the couch, Allison's bed, Mommy's bed, Emily's crib, the Pack'n'Play, the glider in the living room, the dining room table, the kitchen table. Also not found in any laundry recepticle, known closet, behind the TV stand, the back seat of the car, the trunk of the car, the garage, or daycare. Anyone having information leading to the reunion of this pair will be rewarded greatly just knowing Allison has her shoe back and Momma hasn't lost her mind. Please comment with any siting info.
4. My daddy's clock. When I was a child my dad liked to find and restore Seth Thomas mantle clocks. When I moved into my first house, he gave me this one. It now resides most happily on my living room mantle. I try really hard to keep it running, but it seems to run better after he has been here to visit.
5. My new rug. I found it while shopping for shelving at Home Depot. Who knew you could find such a cute rug at a big ol' boy's store? I love it and smile as I go upstairs. Woo hoo, gift giving penguins! How can you go wrong with penguins?
6. Mini-Me's World! Check out the diggs Allison has racked up in her short 2.5 years.
Princess Poopie has her own kitchen with utensils and food. She really likes the cucumber and skillet. Any spoon or spatula that is supposed to be for general kitchen use seems to be fair game. Not cool when you need said item in actual food preparation. She will be a great cook from what I can tell. She will uphold the traditions of my mom's family I am sure. :) I don't know if she is ready for my Grandma's Chocolate Pie recipe just yet, though she does like eating pie!
If you had predicted a "throne" that cheers (if would I put batteries in it) when someone potties would be in my life, I would have laughed. If only I could get her to use her "throne"....

goodness gracious
It is never a good sign when you arrive at work, dig in your bag for your lunch and you find your telephone. Not your cell phone, your telephone from your house......
That should be a good indicator of how our lives have been going. Not bad, just a touch skewed. The good news: everyone is healthy, it should snow tonight, I got to talk with Shane last night. Yehaaaa!
I hope all is good in your world. We are humming along. Figuratively and literally...:) That is one of the best parts of it being in the Christmas season. I love Christmas. I love everything about it. Gift giving, cooking, baking, tree trimming, cold crisp snowy mornings without going to work. And the Christmas pagent and Navitity. Yea! Go Christmas!

But best of all, the most important thing about last night's win: MU beat KU!
